Digital Goa, Nov 23 – Many applications have been received for rebuilding of temples allegedly destroyed by the Portuguese, informed Minister Subhash Phal Dessai. He said a specially constituted committee will scrutinize the applications. “The applicants have been asked to submit proofs and evidence that Portuguese rulers have demolished them,” he said. Through a public notice issued in mid-October this year, Goa govt has sought applications from Citizens, NGOs for identifying historical or religious sites destructed by Portuguese or Portuguese rule. Govt has made budgetary provision of Rs 20 crore to rebuild such temples and historic sites.
