Crime Branch has registered FIRs in Civil Supply matter, investigations are underway: CM

Digital Goa, Nov 15 – Crime Branch has registered FIRs in the siphoning of food grains from civil supplies godown matter, informed CM Pramod Sawant. After Crime Branch acted against illegal transportation of food grains from Civil Supplies godowns yesterday, the Department has started checking the stock at its various godowns. The details will be available after the report is prepared in this regards, said CM. He also assured of thorough inquiry in the matter.
Crime Branch unearthed the illegal food grain transportation and selling racket yesterday. During raids by Crime Branch it was found that food grains meant for public distribution were allegedly shifted from Civil supplies Dept godowns across the state to a private godown at Nagzar, Curti, Ponda. From here the grains were transported to Karnataka and sold there. The private godown belongs to one Sachin Naik Borkar. Crime Branch raided the private godown and apprehended Vinaykumar Gudimani , the driver of a Karnataka registered truck. Vinaykumar has confessed that the food grains were transported from civil supply godowns to this private godown. 4 more persons have been arrested by the Crime Branch in this matter in addition to Vinaykumar for criminal conspiracy. The other accused are Hazrat Ali Sayyad ,Tausif Mulla , Ram Kumar and Prakash Nisimappa. Food grains worth lakhs of rupees have been transported by the 5 accused in connivance with the private godown owner Sachin and his accomplice Virendra Mardolkar according to Crime Branch. In all 3 FIRs have been registered in the matter. Both Sachin and Virendra are absconding.
