Digital Goa, Oct 13 – Goa govt will hold a meeting next week to plan the division of flights between Dabolim Airport and new Mopa Airport, informed CM Pramod Sawant. He was speaking at the foundation stone laying and inauguration of various Port projects at Mormugao Port Authority(MPA) including new International cruise terminal. “Next week we are holding a meeting to plan the division of flights between both airports. If international flights go there (to Mopa Airport), how domestic flights can land at Dabolim. We have thought over it,” said CM. “We will not allow Dabolim Airport to shut down at any cost. No one should create confusion in the minds of the people,” he said.
New cruise terminal will generate 3000 jobs for locals
New cruise terminal at Mormugao Port will increase the number of cruise ships arriving at the port from existing 10 to 12 to nearly 50 cruises per season, creating around 3,000 employment opportunities to locals said Sawant. Stating that the port can be used for export and import of goods other than mining and coal, such as molasses, wheat, pharma products etc , Sawant said, “Goa govt has given MPA a plan in this regards.”
