Goa govt announced 5 % yearly hike in water tariff

Digital Goa, Oct 2- Goa govt has issued a notification announcing that the water supply tariff be increased by 5%  with effect from Oct 1, 2022 and thereafter at the beginning of each financial year. Before the state assembly elections, govt had started the scheme to give 16,000 litres of water free per month to all categories of consumers. The scheme was notified in Sept 2021. The present notification issued by PWD Dept through U P Parsekar states that the water supply tariff was due for 5 % increase from May, 2020 and the same was not implemented till date.
Complete Notification is as follows
Whereas the water supply tariff to all the categories of the consumers are to be billed as per Notification No.8-4/PCE-PWD-Accts/2020-21/128 dated 12/05/2020 published in the Official Gazette on 21 st May 2020 and Notification No.8-4/CE-PWD-Accts/2020-21/640 dated 30/08/2021 published in the Official Gazette on 9th September 2021.
And Whereas as per Note (5) of the Notification No. No.8-4/PCE-PWD Accts/2020-21/128 dated 12/05/2020, the water supply tariff was to be increased by 5% at the beginning of each financial year and the same was not implemented till date.
Now, therefore it is decided that the water supply tariff be increased by 5% w.e.f 1st October 2022 and thereafter at the beginning of each financial year.
This issues with the approval of the Government vide U.O No.586/F dated 08.09.2022.
