Digital Goa, Oct 19 – Fisheries department today locked the fishing jetties at Malim, Vasco and Cutbona and did not allow any movement of fish from these jetties. The department said that the action was initiated as the traders were operating without registering with the department. The department had set Rs 20,000 as permanent registration fee and Rs 2 lakh as yearly fee for traders. Traders, fisherman and trawler owners met the director in this regards today. They sought time from the dept and also demanded that the issue be discussed by taking all stakeholders on board. After consulting with the minister, the director allowed the jetties to be reopened later in the day. A meeting of the stakeholders has been fixed on Oct 25 with the stakeholders in this regards.
