Digital Goa, Oct 28 – Demolition order issued by Archeological Survey of India(ASI) against the alleged illegal construction in protected area of Chapel of St Cajetan at Old Goa on Aug 16,2022, has been stayed by the High Court on Oct 12. The demolition order issued under the provisions of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological sites and Remains Act, 1958 has been stayed till the next date of hearing, i.e. Nov 15,2022. Union Minister of Culture G Kishan Reddy had conveyed to TMC MP Mahua Moitra in a written communication dated Oct 18 that ASI had issued demolition order to raze the structure. Moitra had raised the matter in the Lok Sabha on Dec 1, 2021.
