Mystery: 15 Margao Councillors attend pre & post election meet with CM but candidate gets only 10 votes

Digital Goa, Sept 16 – All 15 BJP and Digambar Kamat supporting councilors from Margao attended the review meeting at CM Pramod Sawant’s official residence at Altinho, today evening. In a setback to the Kamat and BJP backed camp, Independent candidate Ghanashyam Shirodkar was elected as Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council today by 15 against 10 votes with the support of Goa Forward backed councillors and four councillors from the BJP camp. When queried over the defeat, Digambar Kamat said, “I was in Delhi. I came back in the wee hours today morning.” He further went on to say that all 15 supporting councilors had attended the review meeting and that he did not doubt anyone. Interestingly, all the 15 were also present at the pre-election meeting held by CM Pramod Sawant in Margao.
Kamat said that he had gone to Delhi to meet and thank the 4 -5 BJP national leaders who had helped him and were instrumental in his entry into BJP from Congress.
