Digital Goa, Aug 25 – Goa govt does not intend closing of any schools. The proposal is to merge the schools in close proximity. But decision regarding the same will be taken only after taking parents and teachers into confidence, asserted CM Pramod Sawant today.
▪ Teacher recruitment to commence soon
Teachers recruitment in government schools will commence soon, he informed.
▪ Mid day meals to students attending remedial classes from Oct
From Oct this year, govt will start mid day meals to students who stay back for remedial classes, informed CM Sawant. Remedial classes have started for students who need additional help in their studies. Teachers are there in the school till 4.30, said Sawant.
Sawant alleged that Bal Raths meant to take village students to schools in the vicinity are misused and students are taken to private schools in the cities. Govt schools in villages have less students in the process, Sawant observed.
▪ Value addition courses to commence for Std 5 to Std 8 students from this year
Value addition (Mulyavardhan) courses like traffic and road safety, personal hygiene, Yoga, Waste Management will be implemented for 5th to 8th std students from this year, informed CM. CM said that since 2016, the value addition courses program was run from std 1 to std 4 in 716 schools in the state through Shantilal Muttha foundation. Sawant exuded confidence that in next 3-4 years the state will top on most education related parameters.
▪ CM to virtually address students, teachers and parents on Sept 19
CM will virtually address students, teachers, PTA members and Panchayat members on Sept 19 morning and brief them about the changes brought about in primary schools through value addition courses.
