Single use plastic ban comes into effect from today, to be enforced strictly after 15 days of awareness : GSPCB

Digital Goa, July 1 – With nationwide ban on single-use plastic kicking off from today, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has warned of initiating strict action against those selling and using it, after 15 days of awareness drives. The action, including raids will commence after 15 days of awareness drives, informed GSPCB Chairman Mahesh Patil. The ban will be enforced with the help of three agencies -the municipalities, panchayats and special squad of GSPCB, he added. Stating that such type of plastic is not manufactured in Goa, Patil said that the board will target wholesalers to ensure that single use plastic does not reach the markets.
