Digital Goa, July 3 – IIT project got a shot in the arms with large number of locals today supporting the setting up of IIT at Sanguem. Hundreds of people extended their support to the project by raising hand in a meeting organised to discuss the matter. Earlier, IIT officials, govt personnel, locals and affected people held a meeting. Minister and local MLA Subhash Phal Dessai called on the opponents to raise their specific objections to the project. He assured the affected people that he will personally compensate them if govt fails to do so on any account. Stating that residents of Sanguem will have stake in the infrastructure set up for IIT, Subhash asked people to keep ‘other political parties, outsiders and NGOs’ opposing the project at bay. Agreeing that there are minor opposition to the project, he said, “Let us sit together and sort out the oppositions.”
