High level meeting chaired by CM to decide fate of lands without owners or dead owners; mostly forgery happened in such lands
Digital Goa, June 26 – A high level meeting will be convened tomorrow to decide further course of action on the lands which were not having any registered owners or the owners had passed away or migrated without doing succession proceeding. During investigation by SIT that is investigating into land grabbing it was revealed from the accused that there are no legal heirs to some properties as the owners have died or migrated. The meeting will be attended by CM, Revenue Minister, Chief Secretary, DGP, Revenue Secretary and in-Charge SIT. CM Pramod Sawant today took a review of the progress made by SIT in illegal land grabbing/transfer matters. The accused arrested by SIT, had revealed that they had forged documents of close to 70 properties of which majority of them were of the similar nature. Four accused have been arrested in this matter including two land dealers and two government servants attached to Archeology dept. Diresh Naik r/o Bandora Ponda working for Department of Archives has learnt to have removed the Look registers from the Archives Department and handed them to the accused for forging documents.
