Digital Goa, June 28 – In a major embarrassment to the govt, High Court has directed the Goa govt to issue notification for declaring the schedule for panchayat elections within three days. The Court has also directed the govt to hold elections within 45 days. The tenure of panchayat bodies expired last week upon which govt had appointed administrators on 180 odd panchayats in the state. Govt had given the reason of rains to postpone the elections, which govt was intending to conduct in September. However, not accepting the govt justification for postponement of elections, High Court directed the govt to start the election process immediately and hold elections by mid August.
