Committee submitted report on illegalities in 4 ODPs, corrections exercise to be completed before assembly session and sent for govt approval – Rane

Digital Goa, June 17 – Committee constituted on April 27 to study the illegalities and discrepancies in the ODPs of Calangute-Candolim, Arpora-Nagoa-Parra, and Vasco Planning Area has submitted its report. Requisite corrections will be made in the next 15 to 20 days, the exercise will be completed before the assembly session of July 11 and government approval will be taken, informed TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane. He was speaking to media persons after the TCP board meeting. He further pointed out that that 16.94 lakh sq mtr area was converted under Calangute-Candolim, Arpora-Nagoa-Parra ODPs. Referring to the illegalities as ‘shameful act, Rane said, “If anyone is trying to defend this they should dip their nose in bucket and drown themselves.”
“We are opening up the process for finalising new ODPs for the other draft ODPs that have already been dissolved. For all other ODPs that are in the draft phase, process will start again under the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department,” he said. The Minister also said that he will bring in requisite amendments to the TCP Act to make industry representatives as permanent members of the board so that they are part of the planning process. He went on to say that the issue is not about any individual, but about the rampant illegalities. “Investor sentiment is important but not at the cost of such type of illegalities,” he further asserted
