CM presses for need to use Konkani in administration in Statehood day address

Digital Goa, May 30- CM Pramod Sawant today pressed on the need for promoting use of Konkani in administration as means of developing the regional language. He was speaking at the 35th Statehood Day function held in the capital today. Pointing out that Goa achieved Statehood on the basis of language, only after Konkani was granted Official Language status, CM assured that Goa govt will take up several initiatives for the development of the language.
12 Ex CM’s and 23 organisations and companies with noteworthy contribution for the development of the state were felicitated today.

Sawant also announced that henceforth on every Statehood Day Individuals, organisations and companies will be felicitated. “Next year 36 organisations will be felicitated,” he informed.
▪ July 15 earmarked for Goa to pay homage at National War memorial in Delhi
CM also announced Goa govt has decided to mark July 15 as the date earmarked for the state to pay obeisance at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The day will be dedicated to commemorate the Cuncolim revolt, he added. As part of the national initiative, every state across the country has been asked to choose a day on which every year a representative of the state will go to New Delhi and pay homage at the National war memorial in remembrance of those who have dedicated their lives for giving freedom to the state.
