High Court pulls up Merces, Chimbel & Santa Cruz panchayats over garbage black spots and questions scrap yards on Ribandar – Merces road

Digital Goa, Apr 5 – High Court today rapped the Panchayats of Merces, Chimbel and Santa Cruz over the continuing black spots within their jurisdiction. HC was hearing a contempt petition filed by Aires Rodrigues in 2017 over the failure of the authorities to ensure that the streets were free of garbage. Directing these Panchayats to file a compliance report that all the black spots were removed, the Court adjourned the hearing to April 13 while directing the Merces Panchayat to also explain as to how illegal scrap yards have mushroomed in the fields along the Ribandar -Merces road.
