GSPCB warns of stringent action against Health Care facilities if biomedical waste not disposed through facility at Kundaim IDC

Digital Goa, Mar 8 – Goa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) has warned of stringent legal action against all Health Care Facilities in the State which are not disposing their biomedical waste through the Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility located at Kundaim IDC and also those that are operating without obtaining authorisation of the Board. The such Health Care facilities have been given time till March 31,2022 to make an application in Form II to the GSPCB, for grant of Authorisation.
As per Rule 10 of the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016, every occupier or operator handling bio-medical waste, irrespective of the quantity has to make an application in Form II to the GSPCB, for grant of Authorisation. “In view of the above, all Health Care Facilities in the State of Goa operating without obtaining the Authorisation of the Board under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 are hereby given notice to submit an application in Form Il through the online portal of the Board (https://ift.tt/1qnc9Pm) by 31st March 2022 and also to dispose the biomedical waste generated through the Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility located at Kundaim IDC,” states the public notice.
