Eighth Legislative Assembly commences with swearing in of 39 MLAs

Digital Goa, Mar 15 – First session of the Eight Legislative Assembly of the state of Goa commenced today with swearing in of the 39 newly elected MLAs. Savordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar was administered oath of MLA by Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and authorized to give oath to the other MLAs. He administered the oath or affirmation to the rest of the MLAs today. 15 of the newly elected MLAs took oath in Konkani, 7 opted for Marathi while 17 took the oath in English. Incidentally, first time in the history of the state the MLAs have been sworn in before the formation of the govt and the swearing in of the leader & the ministers. According to BJP state President, new government will be formed only after Holi.
