Digital Goa, Mar 10 – Today’s results have come as a shock for the two regional parties – MGP & Goa Forward – who were all set to play kingmakers. With all the exit polls suggesting fractured mandate in the state, MGP, which was expecting to win 5-6 seats, was in a upbeat mood. MGP supremo Sudin Dhavalikar had even expressed his ambition to become chief minister of Goa. However, MGP’s hopes were dashed after they could win only 2 seats and BJP almost winning the majority mark. Interestingly, Dhavalikar, who has categorically announced that in no condition he will support BJP govt under the leadership of Pramod Sawant, was the first one to offer letter of support. These elections also came as a set back for Goa Forward party. The party, which helped BJP to form govt in 2017 with 3 MLAs, was reduced to single MLA. However, this elections will be the watershed moment for AAP which opened its account in Goa Legislative Assembly with two MLAs and newly formed regional party Revolutionary Goans Party which won its first seat.
