DGP should instruct police to refrain from harassing people protesting against environmental destructions – Green activists
Digital Goa, Mar 21 – Several Green activities and concerned villagers from different parts of Goa are in Panaji today to meet Goa DGP I D Shukla and protest against alleged wrongful actions taken by police against villagers who are fighting to save their environment. Villagers from Mayem, Arrosim, Shirgao etc are part of the delegation. They demanded that police should refrain from taking action on their own regarding matters related to environment without involving concerned department officials and without considering the views of affected people. “Police should not take decision on such issues. Let the department and the concerned officials decide. Police officers should in fact help maintain statuesque till the issue is studied properly and amicable solution are derived yet,” asserted villagers.
