Agitated over frequent disruption to Panaji-Betim ferry service, villagers march to CoP office

Digital Goa, Mar 15 – Panaji to Betim ferry service which is used extensively by people of Betim and surrounding areas is being frequently stopped these days to facilitate ongoing work of casino jetty, alleged villagers who held a morcha at the Captain of Ports office today. Large number of villagers and Panch members of Betim and surrounding areas accompanied by local MLA Kedar Naik met Captain ofPorts and demanded uninterrupted ferry service on the Betim-Panaji route. Locals alleged that the ferry services are being frequency disrupted due to the ongoing work of the structure which is being constructed for embarking and disembarking of passengers of casino operating in river Mandovi. Captain of Ports when queried said that the ferry service was stopped as they were having maneuvering difficulties at the ferry ramp during the low tide. “Instructions have already been sent to the technical team and the services will be resumed,” he added.
