Congress writes to Election Commission seeking inquiry in voting by govt servant through postal ballot
Digital Goa, Feb 20 – Goa Congress has written to the Chief Election Commissioner of India seeking initiation of strict action against those following corrupt practices and intimidating voters casting their vote through postal ballots in Goa. GPCC President Girish Chodankar in his letter to ECI has alleged that corrupt practices are being followed by the ruling party in the election process in respect of voting of govt servants on election duty through postal ballots. Girish said that a compliant to this effect has already been submitted to CEO Goa. Congress further alleged that wireless messages were transmitted by the Police Headquarters , Panaji, Goa on 17 and 18 February 2022, to all the police stations across Goa, seeking detailed information about the police personnel casting their vote through postal ballot. He alleged that the wireless message was issued at the ‘dictates and instruction’ of the Chief Minster who is the home minister of the state. Congress has also asked ECI to initiate an enquiry to unearth the wireless messages.
