Congress to challenge order in Supreme Court; order will set wrong precedent: Girish

Digital Goa, Feb 24 – Reacting to the verdict, Petitioner GPCC President Girish Chodankar said that the order will set a bad precedent not only in Goa but across the country and give encouragement to elected representatives to go against public mandate by taking money. “Spirit of the 10th schedule is to prevent horse trading. We definitely need to challenge it in Supreme Court. We will seek a clear mandate from Supreme court as to whether the intent of 10th schedule is to encourage such type of defection to overturn mandate of the people or to set it right,” said Girish.
Welcoming the order, Babu Kavlekar, under whose leadership 10 Congress MLAs has defected to BJP, said that justice is done by the court as we had done nothing wrong. Lies are rejected in the court of law, same thing will happen in public court too by way of polls result.
