Digital Goa, Jan 31- Total 11.64 lakh (11,64,224) voters will exercise their right to vote through 1,722 polling booths on Feb 14. Total 9,361 new names have been added to the voters list in Jan 2022, informed CEO Kunal. Average number of voters per booth will be 676 , he added.
In all 9,590 voters are persons with disabilities (PwD) and 29,797 voters are above 80 plus years of age. 41 Sex workers and 9 transgender voters have been registered this time through, CEO further informed.
298 Service voters will exercise their franchise through postal ballots.
CEO office has identified 490 locations for indoor and outdoor election campaign meetings across Goa and political parties have been asked to suggest additions to the list , informed Kunal.
13,284 to vote from home
The facility of absentee voters wherein the EC designated official teams would visit the homes of the voters has been extended to both PwDs as well as senior citizens above 80 years of age. Total 13,284 have applied to avail the facility (5,938 in North Goa and 7346 in South Goa). Around 100 to 150 teams would be deployed to extend the facility to beneficiary voters, CEO said.
Rs 10.13 crore worth cash, liquor, drugs and freebees seized by enforcement squad
The Election Commissions enforcement squad seized cash, liquor,drugs, freebees etc. worth Rs 10.13 crore since the model code of conduct came into force in the state on Jan 8. The breakup of the seizure is as follows – Rs 6.30 crore cash, Rs 2.44 crore liquor, Rs 1.06 crore drugs, Rs 0.02 croe metal, 0.30 crore freebees .30 crores , CEO has deployed 81 flying squads for taking action against violation of MCC.
Flying squads received 398 complaints of MCC violation of which 253 were found to be correct. Total 38 FIRs have been filed till date, informed CEO.
