Digital Goa, Jan 27 – Nearly 126 people have succumbed to covid in Goa in the ongoing third wave of the pandemic which commenced from Dec 28 in the state. Of the 19 who dies between Dec 28 to Jan 23, nearly 49 i.e. 53 % had not taken a single dose of vaccine, informed state immunization officer Dr Rajendra Borkar.
795 died in first wave of covid when vaccines were not available
In the first wave of covid i.e. between March 20 to Feb 28, when vaccines were not available, 795 died of covid.
2050 of the 2,724 who died during second wave were not vaccinated
In the second wave i.e. from March 1 to Dec 27,2021 nearly 2,724 died of covid. Of these, nearly 2,050 i.e. 72.25 % were not vaccinated even with single dose even though the vaccines were available for nearly a year, informed Dr Borkar. Of the remaining,147 deceased had taken one dose while 67 had taken both the doses of the vaccine, he added.
