Digital Goa, Dec 30 – Goa government will start vaccinating children in the age group of 15 to 18 years with covaxin from Monday, Jan 3 as part of nationwide children vaccination program. The vaccination programs will be held at 529 schools across the state, informed State immunologist Dr Rajendra Borkar. There are around 72,000 children in the state in the age bracket of 15 to 18 years. In view of this the first batch of 74,200 doses have been received by the state from the center. DHS aims to finish the vaccination process in a weeks’ time in ‘campaign mode, added Dr Borkar. Migrant children and school dropouts also can go to the school in their vicinity and get the vaccine dose, he added. Children will have to carry their Aadhar card or any other valid ID proof with them. However for those not possessing any valid ID proof, DHS will have separate sessions.For children with co-morbidities, vaccination will be done at Primary Health Centers once a week on Wednesday. Second dose of the vaccine will be given after 28 days.
Precautionary doses for frontline, healthcare workers from Jan 10
DHS will start giving precautionary doses to Health care workers, frontline workers and those above 60 years of age with co-morbidities from Jan 10. Senior citizens with co-morbidities who are eligible to take the precautionary dose are not required to produce co-morbidity certificate, but are expected to consult their doctors before going for vaccination.
