Three passengers from UK flight test positive for Covid, samples sent to Pune lab for Omicron testing
Digital Goa, Dec 10 – Three of the 237 passengers who arrived in Goa from UK via Air India Flight 146 have tested positive for covid. The 3 passengers who have tested positive have been quarantined at PHC Cansaulim and their samples have been sent for genome sequencing at Pune lab to check if theiy have been infected with omicron variant of covid-19. All other travellers who have tested negative for covid will be kept in strict home quarantine and will be retested on day 8 or earlier if symptomatic, informed Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane. According to the Government of India Guidelines and protocols, necessary directions have been issued to DHS in this regard, he added. The Air India Flight 146 is 98th in the series of Vande Bharat Mission Flights that arrived from London- Heathrow at Dabolim International Airport early morning today. 5 more foreigners, 3 Russian and 2 Georgian who are crew members of a shipping vessel have tested positive for covid and are kept under isolation at PHC Cansaulim. Their Genome sequencing reports are also awaited.
