Malabar Tree Nymph named Goa’s State Butterfly

Digital Goa, Dec 16 – Malabar Tree Nymph species has been named as State Butterfly. CM Pramod Sawant made an announcement to this effect at the two day Goa bird festival that commenced today. The state boasts of 254 species of butterflies including many that are endemic to Goa. The Malabar Tree Nymph falls under the threatened category of IUCN. The state butterfly was chosen by the forest department on the basis of public opinion and inputs from scientists.
