First charter flight arrives in Goa with 159 tourists from Kazakhstan

Digital Goa, Dec 15 – Ushering in new hope for covid hit International Tourism Industry Sector of the state, the first charter flight of this tourist season arrived in Goa from Kazakhstan today. The Air Astana Airbus A321 landed in Goa with 159 tourists from Almaty, Kazakhstan. They were welcomed in Goa by Minister Mauvin Godinho, Airport Director Gagan Malik, Navy and Airport officials. Director of Caper Travels, which is handling the charter flights from Kazakhstan informed that weekly 500 passengers will be brought in via Air Astana charter flights operating thrice a week on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday till March end.
40 slots booked by Charter flights at Goa International Airport so far – Airport Director
Airport Director Malik Gagan Malik informed that 40 slots have been booked by charter flights so far. “SCAT airlines is also going to operate from Almaty, We have given slots to Rossiya also. Right now we have given around 40 slots to these 3 airlines. Slowly as confidence grows more slots will be asked for,” he said. SCAT is the largest air carrier from Kazakhstan while Rossiya Airlines is among the largest airlines of the Russian Federation. “Our tourism is reviving itself as far as international tourism is concerned,” he added. He further informed that under Air Bubble arrangement, per week Goa Airport sees 5 Air Arabia flights, 2 from UK and one from Dubai. He further exuded confidence that by end of December things will change further. He also informed that domestic flight arrivals has crossed pre-covid level crossed long back and that the airport saw 95 departures last Sunday a figure which was even above precovid level one.
