Says even staunch BJP karyakartas feel Congress should come to power
Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar on Sunday said that the party will win 24-26 seats in the forthcoming assembly election as they were getting tremendous support and blessings from the people in every nook and corner of the state.
Addressing the media after welcoming the Independent zilla panchayat member from Mandrem constituency Satish Shetgaonkar into the Congress fold, Chodankar said that the party was getting stronger each passing day.
“In every constituency, Congress has 20-25 per cent support base but now we will take it up to 35 per cent and with this Congress will romp home with a thumping majority in the forthcoming assembly elections,” he said.
He said that now even staunch Bharatiya Janata Party karyakartas feel that Congress should come to power and Goans really want a change as the people have realised what BJP becomes after coming to power.
Shetgaonkar said that after getting elected as ZP member, he was being pressurised by political parties but he had a wish to join only Congress and it has been fulfilled now.
Meanwhile, Congress will convene meetings in both the districts of the state on Monday as part of ongoing process of selection of candidates.
State observer Prakash Rathod, North Goa district observer Mansoor Ali Khan, South Goa district observer Sunil Hannumanavar and senior vice president M K Shaikh have been tasked with holding the meetings.
