Mamata Banerjee  arriving today on 3-day visit

Panaji: Chairperson of All India Trinamool Congress and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will arrive on her maiden three-day visit to Goa on October 28.

Banerjee will meet her party workers and the elected representatives of local bodies. She is also likely to meet leaders from different political parties. She will land in Goa on Thursday evening.

Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is making efforts to project Banerjee as the prime ministerial candidate in the next Lok Sabha elections, has been trying to make inroads into Goa politics by inducting people from various political parties as well as the social, sports and cultural sectors.

The party has already announced that it will fight the upcoming Goa legislative assembly elections, to be held in February next year, and field candidates in all 40 assembly constituencies.

Meanwhile, former Congress block committee member from Velim Herculano Niasso, former president of North Goa Youth Congress Sachin Ghote and two social activists were inducted into the party by TMC’s parliamentary leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien.
