Says Luizinho had lost touch with people of Navelim constituency
Panaji: Hours after Luizinho Faleiro resigned from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress and as MLA, All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Goa desk Dinesh Gundu Rao said that Faleiro’s resignation is a “blessing in disguise” claiming that he had lost touch with the people of Navelim constituency.
“Faleiro’s exit from the party is a blessing in disguise. We are assessing the situation in the constituency. I have been informed that he has lost touch with the people. We have many election aspirants who can fight and win the 2022 assembly polls from the (Navelim) constituency on a Congress ticket,” Rao said addressing a press conference along with GPCC president Girish Chodankar, CLP leader Digambar Kamat and others.
Rao said that he never expected Faleiro to “ditch’ the Congress party.
“He (Luizinho) has not given a clear answer as to why he resigned; I could not see any clarity in what he was saying, could only see deception. This step looks like a voluntary retirement scheme,” the AICC Goa desk in-charge said.
Commenting on West Bengal-based All India Trinamool Congress that has announced to contest the 2022 assembly polls, Rao said, “The TMC in Goa doesn’t look like a Mamata model but seems a Modi-Shah model.”
GPCC president Girish Chodankar said Faleiro by resigning from Congress party has “ditched” the Goan people.
“People of Goa will never forgive him. Faleiro is now speaking of beginning a movement in the state. We want to ask him where he was when Congress was raising various issues concerning the people of Goa. Why didn’t he participate in the protest organised at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on the Mhadei issue,” he quipped.
“People of Goa have always chosen one party and they have always chaosen the Indian National Congress. Nobody can substitute INC in Goa and this is loud and clear. Congress’ ideology and Goa’s ideology is one. We have preserved our culture and we don’t need any advice from people arriving from Kolkata,” Chodankar said, referring to TMC.
He said that Congress party with the active support of Goans is capable of defeating BJP on its own.
Goa Pradesh Youth Congress committee president Varad Mardolkar said that Faleiro never participated in any agitations launched by the party against the government including the anti-coal agitations that took place in Navelim constituency.
