Luizinho, Lavu reach Kolkata, to join TMC

Former chief minister and ex-Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro, along with few of his supporters and others, on Tuesday reached Kolkata. They will be joining the All India Trinamool Congress party (TMC) in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna in Howrah city.

A veteran politician and seven-time MLA, Faleiro had resigned as a member of the state legislative assembly and primary member of the Indian National Congress on Monday.

Faleiro, along with former Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar, social activist Rajendra Kakodkar, South Goa Advocates Association

president Antonio Costa, writer N Shivdas, former congressmen Yatish Naik, Vijai Pai and others, was welcomed by the TMC leaders at the Kolkata airport.

Sources said that a group led by Faleiro will first meet the West Bengal Chief Minister, who is also the chief of TMC, at Nabanna and later the group members will be formally inducted into the party.

All India Trinamool Congress is all set to contest the upcoming Goa legislative assembly elections and its leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien have been in Goa meeting political leaders, social activists and others before relaunching the party in the state.

Leaders of the TMC have been trying to contact many sitting MLAs across party lines, who are not happy with their own parties, so as to get them into the TMC fold in Goa.
