The two accused Shiv Kumar and Gulam Gaus allegedly involved in a cyber crime were brought to Goa from Uttar Pradesh by the Goa Crime Branch team.
The alleged accused were arrested in the case pertaining to creation of fake e-mail account of Goa’s Chief Secretary Parimal Rai with which the scamsters through emails had sought financial help from his friends and family members under the pretext of some emergency.
One of the friends of Rai even had reportedly transferred Rs 1 lakh.
The Crime Branch team with the help of Uttar Pradesh police had arrested the alleged accused in Uttar Pradesh while the main accused (name withheld) is said to be on the run.
Last week, the Goa cyber crime police had registered an FIR against unknown accused persons under the IT Act and also under the IPC for cheating, cheating by personation etc based on a complaint filed by Rai.
The complainant had claimed that unknown accused persons gained unauthorized access to his email account. Further, the alleged accused created an imposter email account and sent emails to friends and family members of the complainant, seeking financial help by citing fake emergency, the police had said.
