Calangute: An Irish woman Mary Gertrude McNamara, aged 66 years, was found dead on Monday in her rented flat in Candolim.
According to information provided by the Calangute police, the deceased’s friend, a British national, tried to call up her friend on her mobile phone on August 28. As she did not respond, the British national later informed about the matter to her husband, who opened the flat that evening with the help of flat owner to find McNamara lying in a sleeping position on her bed. The local police were called and thereafter assistance of 108 emergency vehicle was sought and the woman shifted to the Candolim primary health centre where she was declared brought dead.
Police said the dead body was later shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) at Bambolim where the post-mortem examination was conducted and the cause of death has been kept reserved pending the viscera report. The body has been preserved in the GMC morgue and further investigation is in progress, said police.
