Reiterating their demand for scrapping of GoaMiles-app-based taxi service, North Goa Tourist Taxi Owners Association members have threatened to campaign against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections if their demand is not met. The association members made their intension known by holding a press briefing in Ponda.
Association’s legal advisor Krishna Naik stated that the members are ready to install new meters for the taxis as asked by the state government provided GoaMiles is scrapped. If taxis under Goa Miles and local tourist cabbies continue to operate in same area, there will be clashes and to avoid it, scrapping of GoaMiles will be in the interest of the local taxi operators.
Tourism Minister Manohar ‘Babu’ Azgaonkar has accepted the fact that he has brought GoaMiles in the state and the way he has brought it he should also sent it back, Krishna Naik and others said.
Naik said that if the government fails to scrap the GoaMiles in the state, tourist taxi operators will campaign against BJP urging people not to vote for the party as it is working against the interest of the people.
