Mapusa police arrested two persons for committing theft of metal plates worth Rs 1 lakh. Police have recovered the stolen property from Merces.
According to police, Henrique Cardozo had lodged a complaint that at Galwar in Aldona, two persons stole 45 metal centering plates, worth Rs 1 lakh.
Acting on the complaint, Mapusa police registered an offence under section 379 read with 34 of Indian Penal Code and began investigation.
During the course of investigation, the police staff including head constable Umesh Naik, along with police constables Vishnu Haldankar, Navin Shirodkar and Dhiraj Mane, after receiving information through sources, intercepted a mini tempo at Merces along with two persons- Rajuel Shaikh (21) and Bipul Biswas (41), both residents of Merces.
During a search, police found stolen 30 metal centering plates kept at Merces.
Following interrogation, both admitted to their involvement in the crime and were placed under arrest, the police said. Police further also recovered all stolen property and attached the mini tempo.
Further investigation is being carried out by head constable Umesh Naik under the supervision of PI of Mapusa police station Tushar Lotlikar and SDPO (Bicholim) Sandesh Chodankar, holding charge of SDPO-Mapusa.
