The Goa Line Producers Association has thanked the government for introducing the Goa (Regulation of Film Shooting) Bill 2021 to impose a penalty on those undertaking film shootings in the state without permission.
The Bill was discussed and passed in the state legislative assembly during the just concluded monsoon session.
The president of the association Sandeep Kotecha said that since 2012, he had been requesting government to pass such bill.
The Bill also proposes a single-window system to give permission for shootings in Goa.
The Goa (Regulation of Film Shooting) Bill 2021 aims to regulate film shootings in Goa and for matters connected, in addition to that and incidental thereto.
The Bill seeks to provide permissions through a single-window system and compensate various authorities or local bodies deprived of fees on account of such licenses.
As per the Bill, the government can levy penalty if film shooting is carried out in the state without permissions as also for compounding of such offences.
The Bill further has provision for imposition of restoration charges if there is damage to any tourist place or heritage site in the course of film shooting.
The Bill will generate revenue on account of fees payable for the issue of permissions for film shooting.
