With cases of COVID-19 declining in the state, the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) has resumed interstate bus service on select routes of Karnataka after almost two months.
Interstate bus service was suspended during the second COVID-19 wave, after a curfew was imposed across the state on May 9.
Now, the interstate bus service has been started to Hubballi and Belagavi in Karnataka in a limited manner while the service on Karwar route will resume from August 1. The officials of the corporation said that this decision has been taken in view of the reduction in COVID-19 cases and ease in restrictions. He said people had been demanding the resumption of interstate bus services.
“Four buses have started operating on Hubballi and Belagavi routes daily with adherence to proper COVID-19 guidelines,” the KTC official said.
He said that the corporation is ready to start bus services to Maharashtra, as and when the neighbouring state allows it. “We have already corresponded with our counterpart in Maharashtra and are awaiting their nod to resume operations,” he added.
