In order to facilitate people in availing benefits of government schemes under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa Mission, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that starting July 1, Swayampurna Mitras appointed by the government will visit the panchayats.
Sawant was addressing a gathering at a sewing machines distribution function at Assonora on Monday. A total of 21 sewing machines were distributed to needy women at the function which was organised by the Assonora panchayat in collaboration with Rotary Club of Mapusa under the Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampurna Goa Mission. Replying to question about a video where some fisherwomen are seen entering the state without COVID testing, Sawant said, “I have personally visited the Keri check-post and our incident commandant and police are issued instructions to maintain check and if any such post has gone viral, I will verify and speak to Collector and police.”
Tivim MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar, former sarpanch and panch member Sapna Mapari, Swayampurna Mitra Isha Sawant, vice chairman of ZP Diksha Khandolkar, president of Rotary Club Mapusa Abhijeet Walke and Manish Kedar, block development officer were also present at the function.
Addressing the gathering, Sawant said that with an aim to achieve the goal of making Goa self-reliant in all sectors, the government has appointed 191 government officers as Swayampurna Mitras in panchayats.
Sawant further lauded the initiatives taken by Swayampurna Mitra for Assonora panchayat Isha Sawant for excellent works like ‘Aapda Sakhi’ as it will empower women to deal with emergency situations like cyclone, landslide and other disasters caused at home. He further expressed happiness that the Assonora panchayat has already completed training session for 30 women.
