In an attempt to counter the negative publicity, Pramod Sawant-led BJP government has now ‘motivated’ public relation officers (PROs) at the various departments and the offices of the cabinet ministers.
These officials have been given the task of approaching the general public with facts and figures on various programmes of the government.
The department of information and publicity, on Wednesday, had organised a workshop for the public relation officers of 24 departments and liaison officers of the ministers at the Secretariat to guide them on how to approach the people through media with information about the government schemes and programmes.
The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who attended the workshop, told the reporters that while providing information on the government programmes and schemes to the general public, these public relation officers of the departments will also counter the negative publicity with facts and figures.
“The government has told all the heads of the departments to talk to the media on a regular basis on various initiatives of their respective departments so that information reaches the general public,” he added.
The public relation officers will also counter the allegations made by the opposition on various issues through the media.
At the recently held state executive meeting of the BJP, a resolution was passed condemning the ‘machinations and false propaganda against the government.’
Sources informed that as various reports over ‘mismanagement’ of COVID-19 and criticism on other administrative decisions have been reported in the media, the state government is making an attempt to improve its image through this exercise in view of the upcoming general elections for Goa legislative assembly.
