The state government has starting from July 3 decided to resume its flagship Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa programme aimed at taking government schemes to the doorsteps of the people.
As a preventive measure due to rising COVID-19 cases in the state, the Goa government had temporarily suspended all its programmes related to Swayampurna Goa initiative from April 29, 2021.
An order issued by the director of planning, statistics and evaluation Dr Y Durga Prasad states that all the concerned Swayampurna Mitras, Swayampurna Paryavekshaks, Taluka nodal officers and link officers of line departments are requested to carry out their concerned activities under the said programme in their respective
jurisdictions.
The government had launched the ‘Swayampurna Goa’ programme in the state on October 1, 2020 with an objective to take the government schemes to the doorsteps of even the last person, attain self-sustainability by identifying and tapping the potential, identifying the skills of the unemployed youth and needs of the people, thereby fulfilling the aspirations of the needy people with less government and more governance.
The government was pursing Swayampurna Goa initiative by sending the officials to the village panchayat level and municipal areas and assist the people to avail various schemes. The government has also collected
data from all the village panchayats about their needs to make the villages self reliant.
