Margao: The village panchayat of Carmona, after serving notices to mobile tower companies and banks in the village, has managed to recover a total of Rs 7.8, lakh, thus generating an additional revenue.
Earlier, the panchayat had issued notices to the establishments, including banks and mobile tower operators to pay the pending dues.
Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge said, “The village panchayat of Carmona has managed to recover dues from mobile tower companies to the tune of Rs 7 lakh and also another approximate Rs 80,000 from nationalised banks by way of NOC fees. It is the duty of this panchayat to recover pending dues as these funds help us in our various development initiatives. Although letters were sent to Reliance Jio to apply for regularisation and to apply for panchayat NOC they have so far refused to do so. In this matter, the panchayat will explore all legal means.”
Jorge, and added that efforts were also underway to improve mobile network connectivity in the village.
“There are various areas in the village which are suffering from poor mobile connectivity, and our efforts will be towards improving the connectivity in these areas after due consultations with the people of the village,” he said.
