Fatorda legislator Vijai Sardesai challenged his rival and BJP spokesperson Damodar Naik to convince the BJP government to pay the assured 20 per cent hike in basic salary of COVID warriors- frontline team of doctors, nurses and health workers, who are working hard
in the ongoing pandemic situation in the state.
It may be recalled that in the month of April 2020, the state government had promised to hike the salaries of frontline workers by 20 per cent. However, a year later, the assured promise has still not been fulfilled.
Sardesai said that Naik (former legislator of Fatorda constituency) has decided to provide a hearse van to the COVID hospital now but “I challenge that he should ensure his government fulfills the promise made to
give a 20 per cent hike in basic salaries of COVID warriors.”
Further stating that many of the COVID warriors died while trying to save COVID patients in Goa, Sardesai said that Naik should convince the Chief Minister and get the promise fulfilled.
He said this during his visit to Lohia Maidan along with councillors
on Friday.
