Sudin urges PM to put off elections, curb festivities

Ponda: Claiming that the state government has turned a deaf ear to his suggestions and objections regarding COVID management in the state, senior Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader and Marcaim MLA Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar has written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding postponement of all elections in the country till 2024 and has also urged him to restrict all sorts of festivals and functions till the pandemic vanishes from the country.

Dhavalikar informed the press about his letter on Thursday by holding a press briefing and expressed hope that the Prime Minister will look into his letter sent via post as well as email.

Dhavalikar stated that in the 4-page letter sent to the Prime Minister, he has narrated in detail about how the state government “has failed to tackle COVID crisis” despite an early alert from him.

From the first demand of the lockdown to the demand for austerity measures, vaccination and sudden cancelation of SSC exams have been mentioned in the letter, Dhavalikar said.

Further in his letter, Dhavalikar has urged the Prime Minister to cancel all sorts of elections in the country may it be general elections for assembly or some cooperative board elections, all should be postponed till 2024. Besides these, festivities, major programmes and celebrations too should be barred or restricted in the country till the virus spread is contained as elections and celebration programmes have been super-spreaders of COVID in the country, Dhavalikar expressed.

Dhavalikar also urged PM Modi to focus on reviving the economy of the country first to attaining vaccination of the entire population in the country.
