Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized 404 liquor bottles worth around Rs 65,000 at Margao railway station after conducting raids wherein three persons were caught red-handed and handed over to the excise department.
According to information available, upon receiving inputs through a source on the movement of suspicious persons at platform number 3 of Margao railway station, a team of RPF detained two persons along with their baggage. The baggage contained 201 liquor bottles, worth Rs 20,586.
The apprehended persons – Raju Mandal, 30 years, from Darjeeling, West Bengal and Anuj Gautam, 22, from Unnao, UP along with the seized liquor bottles – were handed over to the excise department for further investigation. A case has been registered in this regard.
In another instance, while the RPF personnel were conducting a routine check in a train, some unclaimed baggage was found. It was then taken to RPF post at Margao and 120 liquor bottles, worth Rs 23,400, were seized. The same was handed over to the excise department for further course of action.
In yet another instance, the RPF personnel while conducting a routine check at Margao railway station, found a person carrying 3 bags containing 83 liquor bottles, worth Rs 21,150. The person was identified as Satyam Sen, 20 years, from Katni-MP. He was later handed over to excise department along with the recovered stock.
