Police dept mourns demise of IRBn barber who died of COVID

Panaji: One more personnel from the Goa police department has died due to COVID-19. Deceased Dattaprasad Palyekar was posted as a barber with the 1st IRBn.

“Goa police mourns the demise of Dattaprasad Palyekar. Always sincere and cheerful, he is missed by the entire force. May Almighty give eternal peace to the departed soul”, posted the Goa police on its social media account.

Last week, DySP Uttam Raut Dessai had died due to COVID-19. Dessai, a senior police officer in the Goa police department, died while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College, Bambolim. He was undergoing treatment for almost a month.

Uttam Raut Dessai was the deputy superintendent of police (DySP) and was holding the charge of sub divisional police officer (SDPO), Panaji. Dessai was always cheerful, he was the one to take initiative and had a never back down attitude. He made efforts to spread awareness alas he lost his own battle with the disease, the Goa police had posted on its social media account mourning his death.
