Positivity rate drops further to 19.89%
Panaji: The state saw a significant decrease in number of new COVID cases for second consecutive day on Sunday with only 645 persons testing positive.
Only 19.89 per cent of the 3,242 samples tested positive for the dreaded virus on Sunday. The significant decrease in single day cases comes as relief to the state which has been reeling under the COVID pandemic for over a month and half now.
The state during the last 24 hours recorded 28 COVID-19 deaths with 17 of the deaths occurring at the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim, 9 deaths at South Goa district hospital, one each dying at a private hospital in North Goa and South Goa. Five of the victims had received the first dose of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine.
The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa currently stand at 1,55,064 of which 14,010 are active cases while 1,38,429 patients have recovered from the disease.
With 1,663 recoveries, the active COVID cases count has reduced to 14,010.
The cumulative death toll is 2,625 and recovery rate is 89.27 per cent. A total of 124 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday while 99 patients were admitted in hospitals.
According to the DHS, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of other urban health centres stand as follows: Margao – 1,283 cases, Vasco – 371 cases, Panaji – 694 cases and Mapusa – 407 cases.
While active positive cases in the jurisdictions of community health centres are as follows: Sankhali – 422 cases, Bicholim – 319 cases, Pernem – 556 cases, Valpoi – 371 cases, Curchorem – 528 cases and Canacona – 268 cases.
And, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of primary health centres stand as follows: Aldona – 334 cases, Betki – 362 cases, Candolim- 699 cases, Cansarvanem – 146 cases, Colvale – 373 cases, Corlim – 429 cases, Chimbel – 553 cases, Siolim – 444 cases, Porvorim- 584 cases, Mayem – 120 cases, Balli – 305 cases, Cansaulim – 573 cases, Chinchinim – 191 cases, Cortalim – 503 cases, Curtorim – 364 cases, Loutolim – 406 cases, Marcaim – 236 cases, Quepem – 283 cases, Sanguem 196 cases, Shiroda – 276 cases, Dharbandora – 274 cases, Ponda – 855 cases and Navelim – 282 cases.
