Panaji: The Union Minister of State for Defence, Shripad Naik on Friday said that the awareness and preaching as regards yoga by Narendra Modi government has helped several countries in fighting back the ongoing corona pandemic.
Naik was speaking during the launch of distribution campaign of AYUSH 64 medicine.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government began celebrating International Yoga Day, seven years back, due to which there was awareness and preaching about the yoga,” the Union Minister said in presence of the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
“Now many countries are recognising that they could fight back COVID-19 through yoga because it was preached to them,” he said.
Speaking further, Naik hailed the Prime Minister for the visionary idea of spreading knowledge about yoga across the world.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister in his speech said that the state government has been seeking help from AYUSH doctors for its COVID-19 management programme.
He said that AYUSH clinics have been established in state-run health centres, which also provide guidance to the people about avoiding post-COVID complications.
Sawant, himself an ayurveda practitioner, stated that AYUSH 64 medicine has been approved by various authorities of the Union government.
He said that these medicines would be made available through health centres as a measure against COVID-19 spread.
