Panaji: The District and Sessions Court, Panaji on Monday reserved the order to June 3 on the bail application of Abdul Jabbar Mulla, who was arrested by the crime branch police in connection with a case of an unauthorised agent who would recruit manpower to be deployed abroad. Mulla was arrested earlier this month.
As per police, an information was shared by the Ministry of External Affairs regarding the unauthorised agent involved in overseas employment and also a complaint was filed by a person whose wife was sent for work as domestic worker abroad by the alleged accused. The accused is from Quepem, police said. Police said that the complainant’s wife was assured a job in Dubai, however, she was reportedly sent to Iraq. The work load was also much more.
Subsequently, the woman escaped and approached the Indian embassy in Iraq for help. When authorities enquired, it came to light that the alleged accused was not a registered agent. Police had registered an FIR under the Immigration Act and also under the relevant sections of the IPC.
