Panaji police stress on COVID restrictions in meet with temple committees

Panaji: The Panaji police on Wednesday held a meeting with members of temple committees in view of the ongoing restrictions due to COVID-19.

As per the government order, the religious places in the state have been directed to remain close for the public however the custodian of such establishments may carry out regular activities, informed the police.

Police said that in the jurisdiction of the Panaji police station there are 16 temples, 6 churches and 4 masjids. Police said that they have informed the concerned committee members of these religions institutions about the government directives and they have been asked to cooperate with the police.

These religious institutions are to remain close for public till further government orders, informed the police. Panaji police on Wednesday had called a meeting with some temple committees from Dona Paula and Taleigao areas. Only few were called so as to avoid a crowd and that similar meetings will be held. Police said that already they have spoken to the various committee members on the COVID-19 guidelines (fresh).

According to the police, similar meetings/communication with the members of religious institution committees have been held by the police throughout the state.
